No newly occurring piracy incident was identified, but a material threat assessment was published concerning MT Sibu 1.

AP reports that Sibu 1 is the sixth commercial vessel seized by Somali pirates since 21 April and that recent attacks have extended farther from Somalia’s coast. Puntland says it has deployed coastal security forces, although allegations concerning foreign involvement and airstrikes remain unverified. Associated Press
Operational takeaway: Treat the Gulf of Aden well offshore from Yemen—not only waters immediately adjoining Somalia—as exposed to long-range pirate action. Review routing and BMP measures accordingly. No new serious yacht accident, collision, grounding or sinking was identified.
